History of Eagle Claw Kung Fu

Eagle Claw Kung-Fu has aroused a growing interest in the last few years. Thousands of people of all ages and cultures practice Eagle Claw Kung-fu for many different reasons. Some practice it as an art form, others to enjoy all the health benefits it has to offer. Whatever the reason, you will find your place here at Lily Lau Eagle Claw Kung Fu.

Northern Shaolin Eagle Claw Kung-Fu is known in Chinese as "Ying Jow Fann Tzi Moon". Eagle claw is an old traditional form of Chinese martial arts. This system was created and used by the famous military General, Ngok Fei, to train his soldiers. This set of fighting techniques is mostly composed of  grabbing, striking, catching, holding, separating the tendons, dislocating the joints, striking pressure points, stopping the opponents breath, fast foot work, and high jumps and fast moves.

Eagle Claw Kung Fu originally became famous and popular in Heo Bei Province, Northern China. There it was passed down to the Lau Family and taught as the Lau Family tradition. It was passed down from one generation to the next. In the 1940's the system was entrusted to our Late Great Grandmaster Lau Fat Mang (of Blessed Memory). Late Grandmaster brought Eagle Claw kung fu to south China where he taught at the famous Ching Wu (Jing Wu) Kung Fu Association. He later opened his kung fu school in Hong Kong. Our late Great Grandmaster Lau Fat Mang, (of Blessed Memory) died in 1964.  Grandmaster Lily Lau is the eldest daughter of our late Great Grandmaster. After his death she became responsible for the Eagle Claw Legacy. Grandmaster Lily Lau began her teaching career in Hong Kong and has since been recognized throughout the world as the Grandmaster of Eagle Claw Kung Fu.

Eagle Claw is based on three (3) fundamental forms: Hang Kuen Sop La (walking fist 10 sections), Lin Kuen Ng Sop Lao (combination fist 50 sections), and 108 Chin Na (joint locking techniques). Eagle Claw has special Chi-Kung and sticky hand techniques; all the techniques are very practical and powerful. Weapon training is taught as well; such weapons as Broadsword, Long Spear, Straight Sword (Gim) Staff, Daggers, Kwon Dao and many more.
